I am a 58 year-old man suffering from diabetes for the last 2 decades. I am being forced to live on a bland diet even though I have been a gourmet since my youth. Is there a way to add some excitement to my diet chart?

Current medical wisdom does not impose any ban on any particular foodstuff for diabetics. On the contrary, it calls for a diet perfectly balanced in terms of calorie and nutritional constituents which should be uniformly distributed throughout the day. Nowadays we also allow diabetics to have simple sugar to the extent of 30g per day. But mind it that the sugar should not be consumed at a time and should be taken with complex carbohydrates like chapatti, breads, rice and so on. You can have sweet drinks and artificial sweeteners. In addition physical exercise like daily brisque walks can keep your calorie count under control. Check out some exciting recipes for diabetics.

"Current" medical wisdom has been saying that(although not all foods)
since the 1980's which I already mentioned.

That first sentence is incorrect for a Type 2 who is overweight,
not exercising or on oral meds. that aren't working to keep their
daily sugars down. I've talked to many of them so
I know the problems
they have due to Insulin Resistance(IR). You also forgot
to mention smaller portion size which allows Diabetics to
eat most foods and still keep their sugars in a decent
range with their exercise/and /or med. regimen.

Also as far as the first sentence, it would be unwise to tell a
Type 1 that they can eat whatever they want, if they do not
test often enough(many don't)to be able to counteract
the high blood sugars from these foods, with Insulin.

I can only presume Santiagofam that you have made up these three
characters. Why do you ask questions if you think you already know
the answers?

This is again misrepresentation on your part. No Person I have ever known was even suggested to eat a bland diet due to Diabetes unless they had damage from Diabetes, colitis, ulcers, IBS, Cancer, etc.

I'm not sure what wisdom you've shared here other than trying to sell
"free" products, etc. from your no-name company.

You'd better do some research on Diabetes before you inform vulnerable People on the subject or sell anything. Gee, stick around here, you may
learn something. ;)
