Good afternoon everybody,

It is my first time at the forum and i am sorry to be so egoistic and ask about my particular case. A year ago I had a little daughter and I did a bit of diabetes during pregnancy: I went up to 170 after eating a peace of bread, and my doctor knew it, but, strangely I was not given the insulin. It was supposed to go away after the child birth, but recently I have checked myself again and was scared: I am at 80 when I am hungry at 158 one hour after the meal and at 119 two hours after. I am quite skinny and pay attention to what I eat. I do not eat sugar at all, since i got used to this during the pregnancy, but I like bread and potatoes and other starchy meals.

Do you think I actually cannot handle the glucose?
Should I go to see a doctor and ask for a medicine or not?

Thank you in advance.

I think you should see a doctor and ask for further testing. No one can guess if you have diabetes, not even your doctor. You'll need a fasting blood glucose and a A1C, at least. In any case, your doctor will know how to further test you to determine if you have diabetes or ot

Hello Classmate :D, Welcome to our happy forum. I see the diagnosis and see where it's going. Just a few questions.

1. Are you hungry most of the time?
2. Do you see the wash closet too often?
3. Thirsty?
4. Loosing weight? :eek::rolleyes:

Thank you for the advise and questions.I have a home glucometre which I have got during the pregnancy and I have still at least 50 strips for it as a leftover.

I am hungry, especially two hours after the meal, as I found out this is when my glucose falls back to normal level. I am an adept of healthy eating so I drink tea and without sugar and do not eat sugary things any way. However I was concerned when I went up to 158 mg/Dl after a cabbage soup with one and a half thin loath of black whole grain bread.

Indeed I have lost weight, but I thought it is normal after having a baby.

I cannot say if i am thirsty all the time or not, the bottles of mineral water are everywhere in the house and it is very easy to sanctify any little thirst.

I think I will really go to see the doctor, ( I hate to disturb doctors, I always feel ridiculous even when I feel bad and now I feel fine)

Hello classmate, welcome to our community! It is better to be safe than sorry. I agree that you should see a doctor for appropriate testing. In the USA I see an endocrinologist (diabetes specialist). You may be developing some symptoms of diabetes and it is possible you might be diagnosed with "prediabetes". If you eat healthy low carb foods and get enough exercise then you should be able to avoid high blood sugar for the time being. Good luck to you!

Welcome Classmate-- First off my dear do NOT ever feel like you are disturbing your doctor.. GO TO YOUR DR..... second off you should have some additional testing done to determine your diagnosis.. If you feel there is a problem then most likely something is going on .... Wish you luck and pls never feel like you are disturbing anyone when you have questions reguarding your health..especially if they are a health care worker... :)
