Well after 6 weeks of trying to get my morning readings down the doc put me on Actos. Says it can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to be effective. Does anyone else take this drug and have you had any side effects? I was not thrilled at the idea of taking it when the doc told me to watch for swelling in my legs.

My husband has been on 30 mg of actos for 13 years. The only side effect he has had is a little weight gain, no leg swelling, though. The actos keeps his HbA1c in the mid 5's. The only thing I don't like is the expense. We now buy it through a Canadian pharmacy.

Thanks guys! After seeing the ambulance chasers on tv mentioning Actos I was a little nervous. I agree the cost is out of hand but fortunately I only pay a $25 co-pay
