Hello all, long time member here..
I have been lurking but not posting for a while.
I’ve been sticking to my very low carb diet of around 50 -75 carbs a day for 5 years . IT took a while for my doctor to get on board with the low carb diet and stay away from the ADA. But he evidentially did.
Well, he has retired and now I have to “train” another doctor.

The only meds I take are Metformin , but my new doctor said there are better drugs now. What do you guys say?

PS.
When I joined this group 5 years ago my A1C was 11.1 and my doctor said I had 3-5 years of life left...
I’m still here with 6.1

Most meds carry some potential side effects that may be worse than what the meds are used to treat. I take metformin and the only other med I would entertain a thought of taking for diabetes would be insulin. That's just my opinion.

Better? How... he would need to explain. sounds like this is working perfectly for you and you are basically under control. what will this new drug do better?

I would love to know what his recommendation is
