Due to my crazy schedule I am trying to "drink" my breakfast on "the go" as I often leave my house at 4am. I was at "122" (which for me is the lowest fasting in a month)- drank an Atkins lo-carb ready mixed shake with 1 gram of sugar and within 30 minutes tested at "246". How is this possible?

Look at the list of the ingredients and see if there are any stimulants in there. That is a huge spike. I use the Slim Fast low carb shakes ( 2 carbs) for emergencies but have never seen a spike like that. I also use the Atkins Bars and usually see a 20-30 point spike. A lot of these things have malodextrine, or other sugar alcohols in them which you could be reacting to. I like to make my own shakes. I buy the Muscle Milk powder from Costo and add some unsweet coconut milk, cinnamon , a few strawberries and flaxseed. I will spike about 20 points with this.

I went on a Slim Fast diet once... I drank two or three with every meal and continued to gain weight... Heh!
