There sure seems to be some mounting evidence that Avandia can cause heart attacks. I have also taken this medication, several years ago and I never had any problems while on it. I do take Actos and I do have some swelling in my ankles and feet from using it. When my 90 days supply runs out, I may decide to go off of it. I just had a cardio stress test done and my doctor said that my heart is very strong, I want to keep it that way. Thanks for posting that article.

This makes me angry on so many levels. I used Avandia for a bit as did my father (who had one of his 4 heart attacks while on it).

I was also on Avandia briefly in combination with my metformin (AvandaMet) but my MD pulled me off as soon as some of the questions started coming. Apparently in the US it's a split decision as some of the sub-boards wanted it pulled and others only a warning label.

The great majority of Avandia users have no trouble with it. It is a wonderful drug for us. My doctor took me off Avandia about two months ago. I think he is concerned about being sued. He has taken all Avandia users among his patients off the drug. Now I am suffering from the insulin resistance, my insulin usage has increased almost 30%, and I am gaining weight. I am cutting back on my carbs to try and lose the extra weight. Losing the Avandia is harmful to my health. This is not fair to all the Avandia users who benefit from it and have no heart problems.
After all the good Avandia has done for me, I would not dream of suing the company, even though I have been encouraged to do so.
