B.S. down!

(wasn't sure to post this on meds. or diet it's kind of a combo) After about 3 1/2 weeks on Met.hcl. my fasting was 118 today! My sugars have been ranging in the 120's and even down to 92 after eating chicken salad on wasa. If I'm really strict with my carbs I seem to keep it down. I thinks that's great considering in Dec. they were in the high 300's to 400's. I miss my milk although I had a cup before bed last night. I bought soy today to try that.

Thanks. Are we ever gonna be able to enjoy a spaghetti dinner with garlic bread without are sugars going way up? :(
I have stopped eating bread. I have very low carb bread (8 carbs per slice, whole grain). I eat potatoes in small portions and try not eat more that 40 carbs in any meal. I use insulin to compensate for my carbs.

Try whole wheat pasta or Dreamfields pasta. It's better for us diabetics than regular pasta. Glucose numbers won't spike so bad. I'd make home made garlic bread with whole wheat buns and eat a lettuce salad with it. This could be a wholesome meal on occasion, not to be overdone. I'm glad your numbers are better.
WAY TO GO! O am so happy for you and it must be rewarding to see a solid result from your hard work. Keep it up!

WHOOPEE!

Thanks! Hopefully I can keep it up. Like I've said in other post I really don't have much of an appetite anyway, being on this med. and my stomach just doesn't feel normal,so I have a hard time sometimes thinking of what to eat. Meat, cheese, safe vegs. and berries. I found that soy milk is easier on the B.S. than fat free or 1%.
Hey that's great!! :D so what's your next step?? Try new foods.
I have moved this thread as this is diabetes in general. ;)
