Hi everyone,
What is a "normal" bedtime blood glucose reading for a non-diabetic? Keeping an eye on my daughter until she has an appt. with a pediatric endo in a few weeks. I'm just not sure what her bedtime reading should be. Thanks.

Most charts are more concerned with fasting and postprandial readings. While trying to keep my searches focused on children, I found this at Blood Sugar Monitoring under the heading Diabetes In Children:
Numbers To Aim For

Here are the normal glucose levels for people without diabetes:

  • Before breakfast: 70-110
  • Before lunch, supper, and bedtime snack: 70-120
  • One hour after meals: 140 or less
  • Two hours after meals: 120 or less
It doesn't address bedtime numbers.

There is a chart with bedtime numbers at the bottom of this page, but it is referring to children already diagnosed and using insulin.

Thank you for your help!! I can't wait for her endo appt so I can figure everything out with her and stop feeling the need to search for info on my own.
