My grandson was diagnosed with type 1 about a week ago and as you know it has been a big adjustment for the entire family. Tristan is barely 6 and has done great with sticks and shots. However, he is very whiny and cries a lot and gets mad very quickly. At the dr appt the other day when the dr was talking to him, he withdrew and would not talk much at all...when the dr left the room, his mom and dad scolded him for not being respectful told him he better straighten up. I truly felt like he was nervous and scared since this is so new. My question, would this diagnoses bring on any kind of behavior problems even while they are trying to regulate his insulin?...his sugar is still high and they said they expected that for a while...please help me to understand! Thanks to all..Nana27
