Can anyone tell me why it is that important to stay away from your belly button while injecting insulin? Is it because of the large amount of nerves in that area? Or what could be the reason?

I inject Byetta and was instructed to leave the belly button area alone. I just think because it is a sensitive area and it would be very painful. Other than that, I'm not sure.
Yes I was told that too and then again it would be not nice place. I would think of it as a sacred place as that's where your mom left you. I should look at injecting in my thighs again as that's easy to do. How do pumpers have their sites?

I rotate my sites all the way to the hips and the upper and lower abdomen. That works just fine.

Yes, I assume one could consider the belly button a scar. ;)
