Question black patches on elbows and knees

Since using tight control with basal/bolus insulin for the last 16 months or so I notice that the black patches on my elbows and knees that I have had for the last 40 years have disappeared. Does this imply that I have had Metabolic Syndrome or type 2 diabetes for that long?

I am 69 years old so I may have had whatever it is since I was about 29? .

I think the dark patches on our bodies, especially the neck indicate insulin resistance. I guess with your good control, it has reversed some of the IR. I know before diabetes I didn't have the dark patches but had lots of skin rashes which are now gone.
