If I ingest a food with a glycemic index of 100, approximately how much time elapses before the blood glucose level is affected?

Thanks Bill

Usually as soon as you eat a food with carbs, it will enter the blood stream fairly quickly within 10-15 minutes. In a healthy non D, then their first phase insulin response would kick in during that first 15 minutes and bring bg back down. Most of us have an impaired First insulin response and have to rely on our Second Phase Insulin response ( newly created insulin) which can take hours. If you are injecting insulin, different insulin may have different responses.
