Since you have Gestational Diabetes (as mentioned on the other thread) and are taking insulin for every meal, I would suggest to test fasting and after every meal everyday. Also test when you feel strange.

No risks during pregnancy.

I think if you are pregnant the doctors want you keep bgs much lower than a normal diabetic. This would mean testing when you wake up and before and after each meal to see if you are in the prescribed range.

How can you test 1 a week if your on insulin? and pregnant!! you need a new MD you run the risk of dieing and damaging the baby.

Im sorry but do this now........

Im no MD, I am on insulin I know the consaquenses of having the wrong amount of insulin.
the right amount of insulin changes all the time ESPECIALLY as you hormones change while being pregnant.

NO REALY once a week is a recipe for disaster

When I had gestational diabetes (which by the way is how this all started for me), I had to test like 8 times a day while on insulin. I can't believe your doctor says 1 time per week? That does not sound right at all. I am surprised they do not have you with a neonatologist (specialist for high risk prenancy). Gestational diabetes is considered high risk while pregnant. I would be sure to check this out. You need to insure the most healthiest possible baby you are capable of, and this doctor does not seem to have the right procedures in place. I know I went through tons of tests and many doctors visits, as well as non-stress tests a couple of times a week.
