I have just signed on to become a new member of this site that I found quite by accident.
I think this site is going to be a great help to me as you share your knowledge.

I have been a Type 2 diabetic for just over 30 years.
I am using insulin plus metformin tablets.

I will be looking forward to reading comments on the site each day.

Welcome to the forum bundyanne, hate you had to find us but glad you did. There is a wealth of information members have shared about their experiences with diabetes, good and bad, over the years. You, having 30 years of experience, I am sure have quite a bit of knowledge and experience to share as well.

Many here have adopted a low carb way of eating and found that may be enough to keep our BG under control. Others found it took a little exercise added to the low carb way of eating to manage their BG while others have had to add meds to the mix.

I've haven't been Type 2 as long as you, but probably was there a few years before getting the official notice. I was told my numbers were borderline for a while before being started on Januvia. That was changed to Janumet after a while. After finding this forum and doing some searching, I asked to be switched off the Janumet to metformin. I was lucky to be with my current physician at that time. He would work with his patients requests, but pulled no punches. He told me being borderline diabetic was like being borderline pregnant, you is or you ain't. We don't always agree on what to do, but he admits that what I'm doing is working OK.

Feel free to ask questions about anything and jump in to share your experiences. Looking forward to hearing more about you.

bundyanne, please allow me to welcome you as well. I like to think of this as a supportive environment in which we support each other with what we know and what we find out. Certainly your experience will add to that! I'm looking forward to seeing more posts from you!

And, may I ask, what is that food in your avatar?

Oh my goodness - I honestly have no idea as to what that dish is as it was just a nice picture on my computer.

Ah. There are people here who are always up for a nice diabetic-friendly dessert. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but that dish looks very nice.
