In the group choosing the ketogenic diet, HbA1c levels decreased 17% [...] to 6.3% (P < .0017), [...] Sixty percent of those following the ketogenic diet were able to achieve a normal HbA1c level while discontinuing all diabetes medications or remaining on metformin alone
Actually a lot of positive numbers in this study. Not a huge study (349 people) but it comes after several which come to a similar conclusion. Worth a read (at the link) for its discussion of findings for other fairly common health conditions.
