a year ago my #s were all out of sight--BP/ BG chlestrol

so with the help of meds I got BP down to low to mid 100s over 65/71 I was actually proud of this #!!!!

this last week Ive started testing the BG and now my BP is going up

130s to 140s over 75/80

BG hasnt been to bad--Im still experimenting to see what I can eat
besides nut berries and bunny food

weight too has been creeping up--I gained 3 lbs since my last dr app
the last week of July

Im cutting back again on what Im eating but its not working anymore

I cant cope anymore with all these #s issues--Im trying so hard and nothing is working--Im back to feeling cranky and miserable--just when things are starting to settle down a bit

any idea on why the BP would go up with testing BG--

actually Im thinking its because Im testing as the time is getting closer to test I can feel my heart racing!!!

anyway to get this to stop

please help--I can feel myself breaking down!!! again

thanks to one and all

I don't have a bp problem but I know stress has a hand in our bg as they have said. The one thing for me is to fight each battle on its own merits. I do not worry about today because of what happened yesterday. Each day is a new battle.

And no You cant "win" drinking regular soda.

You are Diabetic, if you want to win with your BG you have to make changes.
DONT DRINK REG SODA Why do you do that? Get the diet soda. a 20 oz soda has 27 carbs and they are FAST acting carbs.

I see you did not measure your BG 1 hour after you Applebys.

The first thing you need to do is not get caught up in the numbers game. They are just numbers not to determine winning or loosing but to be used as guidance more like road signs. They sare better used to help you reach your destination and not in telling you what will happen if you don't straighten up. So every time you test just look at the numbers as a guide post to help you make the right turns. There is no winning just a long game without an end so use your numbers to your advantage.

I drink regular soda since I cant stand the taste of diet--it leaves a

bad after taste I know not a good reason but.....

Im alittle confused as to why some people here say Im diabetic--

I had one high (7.1 a1c) and it wasnt even all that high isnt normal

6.5 or so there has to be more to being a diabetic then 1 higher then normal test.

and no Im not in denial since Ive been experimenting with testing

I have been able to handled soda and other treats not as much as a year ago--it was nothing for me to eat 6 cookies at one time!!!!

and 2 or 3 sodas a day!!!!

thanks for all the advice tips sholders to lean on and concerns

I really do appreciate it

take care all

An A1c of 7.1 is an average blood sugar of around 170. Thats not anywhere near normal. A non-diabetic will have an A1c in the low 5 range.

Just out of the same curiosity.....if you dont think you have a problem, why keep testing? You are testing all the time, so it must concern you. If it concerns you...why keep eating cookies and regular soda? I dont begrudge anyone an occasional cookie....I have one sometimes...but not all the time. And regular soda is one of the worst wastes of carbs I can imagine. High carb and absolutely no nutritional value.

Ive been testing mainly out of curiosity but since Ive been testing my BP has gone up--

as the time to test gets closer I can feel my heart pumping away!!!

that cant be good either--before I started testing my BP was low

100s now its in the 130s to 140s range--

I have to find a happy medium with all these #s its really driving me crazy

I started last yr with an a1c of 7.1 3 months later it was 5.9

and I still ate some sweets and reg soda (I cut back some but not alot)

what exactly determines if your a diabetic--there has to be more to it then one high a1c

thanks-- please just be patient with me

That is all there is to it. An A1C of 7.1 means that 7.1 percent of your red blood cels were glicated with glucose leaving them useless to transfere nutrients throughout your body. Now keep in mind that this doesn't happen quickly and that your red blood cells live an average of 90 days so the truth is you are an early stage diabetic and if I was you I would be thankful that it was caught early while you still have a chance to controll it with just diet changes. If you keep doing what you have been doing that opprotunity wont last long. About time you faced reality and smelled the roses.:hungry:

Penn, I'm sorry but even though there aren't many things people with diabetes really CANNOT do, it definitely IS drinking regular soda. You just can't do that, unless it's for treating a low.

Hi Penn,

I'm sorry to say this but the two things that you talk about just don't really go together - i.e. the anxiety you report regarding waiting for your test results and the cavalier attitude to drinking regular soda and eating starchy carbohydrates.

You really do need to try to get things moving in the opposite directio.

Good luck and best wishes - John
