charley horse and sciatic pain ...

5K views 2 replies 2 participants last post by  foxl
My husband (T2D) has had charley horses as long as I have known him, his father has too, so he thinks it is "something genetic."

This morning he had a horrible one, the pain transmitted up his sciatic nerve, and he is wondering why. He thinks he is slightly dehydrated.

I told him he needs more magnesium and to eat nuts daily (as I have been telling him).

Anyone got any additional suggestions -- and this radiating sciatic pain, immediately after a charley horse, is that normal?
Is he on a Diuretic? they can cause a rapid loss of magnesium, Potassium. salts and fluids. I was think about getting those levels checked. Potassium is normally what I end up needing
