I use both.
Extra Virgin has a really delicious taste of coconuts, and I use this type if I would like that good taste. For example together with chicken.
Here in Norway many people just eat it with spoon, or in the coffee or in cream or ice cream.
The pure has no taste and I usual uses this when I`m going to fry something, either fish, meat or vegetables.

I use the Nutiva Extra Virgin in everything. It does smell like Coconut which some people don't like. There are some refined ones that are pretty good. Just make sure they are not refined with petroleum products, they will have a terrible smell. The cheapest place to buy CO is online. Try Amazo, Vitacost or Swanson's Vitamins or Netrition.
