I desperately need ideas for cole slaw dressings for tomorrow. I don't like a sweet one, but it seems they all need a bit of sweet. I'm not able to stand long to cook and am having my step-daugher and g'daughter for the day and can buy some yummy barbecue but their dressing on their cole slaw is too sweet for me, so I bought some prepared slaw and would like to make the dressing for it.

I've looked and googled and not found one and we don't have one in our recipe section, so I'm hoping Shanny or someone else would share theirs with me.

Help!

My cole slaw dressing is a lot like the one for broccoli salad, only I'm like you - I don't like it so sweet.

So I use 1 tbsp. vinegar to 1 cup mayonnaise & then sweeten it to taste. Sometimes I add a drop or two of pineapple flavoring, because before D, I used to like pineapple in my slaw too.

Hope this helps, Pat.

It sounds like the recipe Shanny gave you is a good one. I have tried a lot of coleslaw dressings that are based mostly on vinegar and haven't found one we like. So I just use mayo with artificial sweetener to taste, and always get compliments when I take it to family gatherings. Next time I'll try adding the tablespoon of vinegar. Thanks, Shanny.

In addition to apple cider vinegar, I add some Girard's Champagne Salad Dressing (any vinaigrette would do) because I like to dilute the mayo a little more w/out using too much vinegar.

I cheat and use the Walden Farms 0 Carb Coleslaw dressing and add some rice wine vinegar to it to thin it a little. Happy 4th.

I like coleslaw, and sweet coleslaw to me is great especially if I am eating some really hot food like blackened fish or chicken.

I made this as easy as possible for me. In the produce section they sell real salad dressing, and they are pretty low carb. I have used so far, Ranch, Jalepeno ranch ( I really liked this on, hot), Blue Cheese (good as well) and lately I got some Ginger dressing and made a batch with it, (asian tasting). I sweeten them up with splenda or aspertame to my liking. I have added bacon bits if I got time for a real treat.
