Many times when I'm googling something, the search turns up eHow as a source. Today I ran across this article on metformin. As soon as I read it, I checked her sources, which I discovered to be detailing glucovance - not glucophage. So she has attributed the action of glyburide to metformin, saying it works in the pancreas, won't work for type 1s, etc.

There's a "helpful" button at the bottom of the article at the left, and it allows feedback if there is any. I thought I'd post in case anyone besides me wanted to keep eHow honest. ;) I know I'll be a little less trusting of them now that I realize all of their contributors aren't necessarily experts!

edit: Now having reread her article, I realize she published her erroneous assumption that type 2 is the non-insulin-dependent type, and that isn't true either! My goodness!

I had to hunt for awhile, too. You have to scroll all the way down, and "Helpful? Yes - No" is a strip on the far left corner of the page.
And if you have your page enlarged quite a bit, that little button can go right off the left margin too - I lost it a coupla times until I shrunk the page back down.

Is eHow a part of the whole About.com thing?

The folks who write for About are paid per article, sometimes as little as a few dolllars. Their focus is turning out as many articles as possible to try to pay the bills and eat. There may be exceptions but I doubt many have any motivation at all to correct mistakes in articles they've already published because their goal is to crank out more and more.

Perhaps a better antidote would be to submit more accurate info yourself. Just a thought.
