Mine just came too. Im concerned also if I made the right choice or not.
Thanks for that. That is one thing that I know will bother be, although I get why it has to be. Getting higher numbers in the settling in period that is. When this happens can you correct in the way you would if high on MDIs? How long did it take you to get to a point where you could make adjustments for yourself? All I can say is patience with your numbers during the adjustment period. Most Dr/educators will start off conservatively so you don't go hypo as you are strictly using fast acting. For a short time you may have to test several times during the night. Once you get the hang of it you will be able to adjust your settings without talking to the Dr every time. Pumping has given me so much freedom. I still test 8-10x a day, but no more 8 shots a day![]()
Yes you will bolus and correct as always. I made adjustments on my own right from the start as I didn't find it much different than making adjustments when on MDIs. You will have a correction factor, carb ratio, and basal setting programmed into your pump. My carb ratio and correction factors started out the same. My basal rates were set using a formula based on my Lantus dosage, weight etc. don't remember it now. It will be 2 yrs for me at the end of January. I still test upon waking, before a meal, 2 hrs after, prior to bedtime and anytime I feel weird or try a new food. Thanks for that.
