Hope everyone is well who is on here in this new covid world.
Diagnosed t2 this past March and tackled it myself with strict eating plans. Had success and was able to cheat once in awhile but suddenly I'm back in the mid to high 200s first thing in the morning and back around 160 on average by mid day and or end of day. So I've been looking for help other than traditional medications. I came across Diabetes Freedom which claims to reverse t2, has anyone else heard of it or tried it even?
Would love some feedback before I purchase.
Thanks

To be frank, I stopped looking at the Diabetes Freedom Web site as soon as I saw them claim to "reverse" diabetes. In the real world, right now, this requires a pancreas transplant or some procedure that introduces functional insulin-producing cells into your body -- and that assumes the problem you have is insulin production and not insulin utilization or regulation. I would not spend my money on a treatment that makes the promise to reverse diabetes.

However, it is possible to put Type 2 diabetes into remission. This can include medication, which you are/have been taking. It can include what you eat. From your intro thread, it sounds like you've lost a fair amount of weight and have been taking metformin and glimepride.

Still taking them? Are those not helping control your blood glucose? Besides the occasional cheat (welcome to the club!), have you changed what you eat? It is possible that you had some pancreatic function when you were diagnosed and it has continued to deteriorate to the point that further intervention is needed -- more (or different) medications and/or a re-dedication to eating lower amounts of carbohydrates.

If you'd fill us in, we'll tell you what we think. We're not doctors, but many of us have been managing our T2 for some time now; we can give you the benefit of our experiences.

I actually stopped taking the meds after a couple of weeks as I looked into the potential side affects and have never been a fan of meds to begin with. I was just strict with my diet and continued to workout ( power lifting) and as for the weight well some has come back but some is from the workouts in muscle form.
I thought the same thing on the reversal statement but I'm willing to try a more natural approach to at least controlling it. It seems that I might just have to forgo some strength and cut more carbs?
Thanks

Well, for ketosis, yes. But many people just go low-carb instead of all the way to ketogenic.

You could post on this site (maybe the Diet and Nutrition forum) asking if anyone on this site is lifting while staying keto. Or you might want to do a Web search for keto lifters or keto workouts or similar terms. People do follow keto and lift; I know I've seen articles on staying keto and bicycling.

It may be that you can cut down on the meds -- and it might be a good idea to go back on the meds for now, despite potential side effects, while your blood glucose stabilizes. Heavy workouts will have an effect on BG, too; you may need to find an equilibrium.
