It's nice that you are supportive of your husband and willing to shop for those foods that would be good for him.

You can glean a shopping list from some of our meal threads where we write down what we are eating, and include some recipes. The foods in these threads are low-carb/high-fat for the most part.

It would be nice if you could tell us a bit more about your husband's diabetes. What were his latest A1C and FBG numbers. Is he testing with a meter to see what foods raise his blood sugar? Is he on any specific diet and/or counting carbs?
