Welcome to DF, locoboy . . . glad to meet you. Wish I had answers for you, but my experience with hypoglycemia is limited.

I've been on the SSRI fluoxetine (Prozac) for several years, and wasn't aware of it having an effect on my blood sugars, but I've never had the OGTT done either.

Stay with us and see if we can find the answer to your question.

The numbers from your GTT seem to be what I would expect for hypoglycemia. The numbers from the candy episode are very surprising. Are you certain that you washed your hands after eating the cinnonbears? Just a little bit of that sugar on your fingers could give you very high numbers.

With those GTT numbers and only having high numbers a couple of times, I think your only concern should be the hypoglycemia. The right kind of diet should keep your hypoglycemia under control. I hope your doctor has told you the right diet to follow.

locoboy, What type are you? The zoloft that you take may get the BG's a jumping jack effect. The Ogtt tests show low BG as that may have some affect of feeling weird, Strange, lathagic as a healthier food would be a good choise and some exercise with some fast carbs to take with you as that will help you get out of bother. :)

I think do you have a Hypoglycemia produced by a lower than normal level of blood glucose or "under-sweet blood" . If you are suffering from this, this is treated rapidly by restoring the blood glucose level to normal by the ingestion or administration of dextrose or carbohydrate foods quickly digestible to glucose. In some circumstances it is treated by injection or infusion of glucagon. Prolonged or recurrent hypoglycemia may be prevented by reversing or removing the underlying cause, by increasing the frequency of meals, with medications like diazoxide, octreotide, or glucocorticoids, or even by surgical removal of much of the pancreas.

For the best advice, you can have a doctor check for you situation. Just state your problem to your doctor. I'm sure he or she can give the best method treatment on this to prevent your hypoglycemic.

Welcome locoboy and Honey Crystals,

Glad to have you both here. This is a great place. The more you read and post in the forum, the more you will learn.

locoboy, ask your doctor for instructions for your tests. Write down any questions you have for your doctor and ask them. I know if I do not write down my questions for my doctor, I forget.

Do not get stressed out about the tests. Take them and ask for the results. A lot of times, a doctor wants to rule out different possibilities.

Ruth, do you ask for a copy of your lab reports when you see your doctor? They are supposed to give you a copy if you want it.

Hi Richard,

I know the doctor is suppose to give me a copy of my lab results. Everytime I go in, I ask for a copy and she says, 'no problem, I will give it to you." Then I never get the copy.

What do I do? I live in a small town and she is the best doctor in town.

Ruth, do you think she forgets? I would ask again until I get one. If she has promised to give you one then I see no harm in repeating your request.

Ask your pharmacist they will know about zoloft, but some anti depressant meds do affect insulin levels.

You are eating to much sugar, that is why your numbers went sky high. You have to watch what you eat to keep your BG under control.

When my BG is too low, I take a Reli On Glucose Tablet. I buy them at WalMart.

I am not on any medications so I cannot help you. Call the pharmisict on Zoloft, they know all the ins and outs of medications. That is their job.

I have never had the ogtt but I also take zoloft and I don't think it has affected my regular bs testing.
