Hello Michelle, and welcome. I hope your doctor doesn't base his diagnosis only on your three weeks of home testing. You should have an HBA1c done to see what your average blood glucose has been for the last 90 days, and it wouldn't hurt to have a C-Peptide. It seems like you have some pancreatic function, but how much would be nice to know.

Are you seeing your regular doctor, or an endocrinologist?

This is not an illness a doctor can treat on his own, its really something you need to beat with his assistance. Your knowledge and attitude will make up a great amount of your long term prognosis. That being said due to your age I would press for an early referral to an endocrinologist so you can get a complete work up, diagnosis and care plan.
Jon makes a strong point here, and Josh expands on it . . . you need to take charge of this. And before very long, you'll know a lot more about your disorder than your doctor knows.

Thanks guys.

I think your doctor would be wise to consult or refer to an endocrinologist about this. You've been hypoglycemic all this time and now you spike for three hours after the administration of the glucose. If he can't get it straight, then you need to get a second opinion. Lots of regular docs are fine physicians, but they just can't keep up with all the variations diabetes throws at us, and your well-being hinges on what appears to be his lack of expertise in this area.
