empty pump line?

This morning I had a fasting BG of 90, what made me really happy. At breakfast, I gave my mealtime bolus, while my pump was lying next to my plate. My youngest daughter noticed that my line was empty. We saw the insulin crawl up from all the way down there. About 4cm from where the insulin should come out of the line, it stopped. I added another bolus until the insulin peeped out of the line.

Is this normal? Is the line supposed to be empty until you bollus? Then where is the basal insulin? I have never checked this before and I have been pumping for 2 years now  How embarassing.... It surprises me that I have a BG of 90 and at the same time an empty line...

Cathy, it sounds like you lost your prime. Which pump do you use, I can't remember. You could disconnect and prime if that happens again and then everything should be OK. Was everything going smoothly the rest of the day?

Richard, I don't quite understand what you mean by I lost the prime  That's a word I don't know.

I have a cozmo 1700.

Rest of the day went real well, thanks.
I have a Minimed and I have to use the prime option to fill the tubing every time I change sets. If I do not prime then the tubing is empty and I would be pumping air in my body when I bolus/basal at the beginning, until the tubing is filled. How do you proceed with the Cozmo to fill the tubing when changing sets? Maybe there is a different procedure from mine.

Now I understand Richard. Thanks. Same thing over here. Same procedure.
