Strips generally are matched to the meter and companies are smart enough to put something proprietary into their own test strips that makes every third-party strip not quite as good. It's like buying a third-party cartridge for your printer: the very best results will come from buying the (expensive) cartridge from the printer manufacturer. But you can decide if the results are acceptable for your situation.
If you're a T2 monitoring BG simply to make sure diet and exercise is taking care of things for you, then it might be worth a vial or two to try them out.
If you're testing to dose insulin and to respond to hypos (especially if you have hypoglycemic unawareness), or if you need to know your BG level with Six Sigma certainty, no.
