I think sneeking up on it is a sure fire way to go hypo. if you dont take enough to start with takeing more later will give you insulin when the food is gone, resaulting in hypo. take the 1/2 dose and learn to take more , or, less, or the same for the next time you have the SAME food.

Are you sometimes afraid of an episode of hypoglycemia and don<t take your insuline in order to prevent it?
No. But if I'm in the low 70s, I might take the insulin a bit later, and/or eat a bit earlier, and/or have an extra snack, depending on everything that's going on. And I make sure to test until my levels get to where I want 'em.

This calls for (yet another) one of those diabetes balancing acts. We each must experiment to find the technique that works best for us. Not fun. :p

Please keep us posted! :)

yeah I can relate to that sadly :( Having more hypos has made me a bit on edge. When I was on domestic flights I deliberately took about 2 units less bolus than usual as I didn't want to have a hypo on the plane. Also going to sleep sometimes makes me nervous as I seem to still be having hypos... I can't predict when at the moment. I know I had one this morning before 5 am, but I slept through it and woke up feeling hypo and was sitting on 4.8 at 5.30 am... I could feel the BGL was going back up on me and I was shaking. I've only had up to 5 hours sleep and still managed to get a hypo! The sad thing is when you have many of them you get to know what stage you're at. I've even bumped down my basal and it's still pot luck as to what I get. I've been getting frustrated with my health in general.... between my stomach problem and diabetes they have both been ticking me off lately.... but I can't get mad as that just makes both conditions worse... I just have to smile and get on with it. It's very complex to figure it out and I'm just not figuring it out really... I'm too tired right now. I noticed when I found out my flight was cancelled I was right in middle of a conference and I already was in pain... my pain got worse plus all the muscles around my esophagus went into spasm for the rest of the day... that's when I had the high BGLs of course. So yeah I'm not a fan of hypos and I want to stop having them if I can figure out how. I guess for those that haven't really experienced hypos or not many may not understand the psychological effect of it... perhaps only looking at the methodical stuff. I know there has to be a way to figure it out... but it seems to be me that my body is plain unpredictable.
