I used to have pain in the top of my feet. Swelling in hands and feet. And arthritis symptoms in most joints. All that is 85% gone by controlling my blood sugsr through a strick diet and metformin.Hi guys. My feet swell daily and hurt. I take gabapentin so the burning has subsided. However, my feel have hard calluses and are painful. Do the swelling and have have anything to do with my diabetes?
Hi swgirl! I take gabapentin. The gabapentin can cause peripheral edema. I have some swelling in my left foot. My podiatrist told me that there is a reason why the left foot will swell more than the right foot. I will go through my notes and see if I charted the explanation. I will get back to you and hopefully give you the explanation. My podiatrist told me that I could wear compression stockings if the swelling got really bad. I don't stand on my feet all day, bit if I go out for a day of shopping, I am ready for my foot bath when I get home, this is very refreshing.Hi guys. My feet swell daily and hurt. ... me stopping the Rx. Until then, I am taking 1 tablet, twice a day. This Neurologist is very slow at returning my calls, as its been two weeks on Tuesday.Paul, I thought you said that you stopped taking Gabapentin? Did you start taking it again?
I am tapering off of Gabapentin and I am down to 100MG at night. The pain has come back with the tapering of the Gabapentin. I will start taking Lyrica in about 2 weeks. I am hoping that the Lyrica will also help the neuropathy in my left hand. I have constant tingling and pain. I am not able to use my left hand the first thing in the morning, I have a difficult time just turning the faucet on and off. My hand goes numb and it doesn't stop. I shake my hand and rub it but the sensation is just not there. Very frustrating.... me stopping the Rx. Until then, I am taking 1 tablet, twice a day. You are not mistaken though. I want to cease taking it because it doesn't seem to be helping me. I just want to make sure I don't have some negative reaction to just stopping the medicine.
How are you doing ??? and how are your feet holding up :fencing: in your battle agaisnt pain ???
Paul
I do not have pain or swelling in my feet, but I do (last month) have a cold feeling in my left calf and foot. Sometimes it feels like the calf is falling asleep. The coldness seems to be present most/all of the time, but numbness comes and goes at night.Hi guys. My feet swell daily and hurt. I take gabapentin so the burning has subsided. One thing I noticed ist that you are taking Metformin. While Metformin is a wonderful medication it does remove the Vitamin B12 from your body causing neuropathy. Ask to have your Vitamin B levels checked. I have a feeling your B12 levels are low. Also be sure to have your B6 levels checked as well because if that is too high you will have neuropathy. My B12 levels were low because of the Metformin and I take B12 in the form of Methylcobalamin. which is the active form of B12. It has really helped reduce the symptoms a lot. I do however get flareups when I eat certain foods especially those with High Fructose Corn Syrup or Corn Syrup. Don't know why but avoiding those foods helps to keep symptoms at bay. Definitely ask to Have your Vitamin B levels checked though as a first step. Wishing you the best.I do not have pain or swelling in my feet, but I do (last month) have a cold feeling in my left calf and foot. Sometimes it feels like the calf is falling asleep. It's worse on the left than the right and I'm wondering if it might be the onset of neuropathy. I'm only diagnosed T2D 1 year ago and got A1c down to 6.3. Seems to be worse when I'm at work, like my feet can't get warm not matter what I do. Not sure if there is anything I can do for this - anyone have any suggestions? Things to talk to PCP about?
Metformin 850 2x day.
