You can't just "get one" for your mom like you would a Christmas present. If she qualifies by being a type 1 diabetic, or possibly type 2 if her levels resist control - then she must be evaluated and approved for a pump by her medical team as well as her insurance provider. This can takes months, and there are no guarantees that it will EVER happen. Even if it does, she would also need upwards of $300 a month spare change for supplies.

Pumps are no more convenient than MDI, and they are a great deal more expensive, not to mention the learning curve.

So now that you've gained your five minimum posts, what's next, Johnny?
You are so right - I need to take her to a doc. In India - medical laws are not stringent, its a lot easier than in the US. She doesnt have insurance - She has had lots of illness and noone would give health insurance here.

She read about pumps and says its not convenient - never tried it herself ofcourse.

That's how this forum is run. If you're accustomed to coming in brand new and getting all the perks, you won't find that here. Our members are probationary for a short while in the beginning.
No, not all perks... The ability to edit typos and mistakes within 2 min of making the post is not a perk IMO - its something thats better value to a forum. I am part of other forums too - I know the drill. Never mind. Had to get this in. You can delete this.

This is the way things work HERE. We are not other forums, we don't subscribe to "the drill", nor do I need your permission to delete your posts. You're welcome to continue at the other forums if you're unhappy here.
Hmm...Is that how you took it ? Never mind then. Peace.

How old are you, by the way?
These are the kind of flame war posts I would like to avoid - but I'll answer that. I am 34.

Nice forum.
