Hi ,

Today I ate fried Potato(very less) + Rice for lunch - 1h30m later reading was 220 .

Immd I had BITTERGOURD juice - 30 mins later reading was 163 . 1H later reading was 123 .

Thanks,
fried potatoes and rice are both loaded with carbs. Eating them at the same time is not the best food choice for you

So what is the test your trying to do?

See how fast you can get diabetic complications?

ALL CARBS raise BG The higher the carb content of the food the higher your BG will climb. If your pancreas is still working a little bit, BG will drop over time.
Are you on any meds?

Since you ate fried potatoes & rice for lunch and it sent your BG to 220, does that not tell you that those are not right food to eat? The usual object of testing at these prescribed intervals after eating, is to find the foods like rice & potatoes, bread, etc., and if they send your BG that high, then don't eat those foods anymore. Forget about the bitter gourd juice - just stop eating all those carbs. The fact that you are not on medication right now is all the more reason to modify your carb intake.

How many carbs are in the multi-grain bread? Does your BG go high after you eat it? Then it prob'ly isn't right food to eat either.

I'm totally with Shanny on this!

There isn't any point in testing if you don't act on what your meter tells you.

Hello Andhra :D
I agree that rice and potato's do send the BG high. The BITTERGOURD juice will bring the BG down also vinegar will do the same. Green leafy foods have a good BG stabilizer effect.
I see that you live in Singapore as there are wonderful veggies to enjoy from your markets and look at low processed foods and cook at home.

Good food = good physical performance. Don't forget to exercise!! ;):D

As somebody who has lived in Thailand and been diabetic, I can sympathize with you, Andrha. The diet is totally rice-based, and diabetes-friendly options are not so easy to find. Even if you skip the rice and potatoes, there is lots of sugar in the sauces. Veggies with fish, poultry and meat are your best bets. Can you get spaghetti squash to use as a rice replacement?
