I received the Freestyle lite and it came with 10 strips, the ones
that are in the commercial, the ones with the little tip that uses
a very very small drop of blood. So when filling my last prescription,
I specified the Freestyle lite test strips. The box of 100 that I received stated that they were Freestyle Lite, but when opening the
box the strips were not the ones advertised with the little tip.
When I called ABBOTT, they argued with me that they were the same,
and that the drugstores are dispensing the old ones before the new
ones - in other words it was the drug stores fault. So ABBOTT is
doing a SCAM, advertising what does not exist.

When I filled my prescription for my meter I got the ones with the little tab but the next two refills were the regular strips but now I'm getting the new ones again.... Maybe your drugstore hasn't gotten a shipment since the new ones came out

Then ABBOTT should have said that....

It was never advertised as such, I did not know nor was told that
the Lite had two different type of strips. And since I've used both,
the old style strips require more blood than the new type. With the
old type of strips, the meter is no different than any one elses.
So no reason to go to the Lifestyle meter unless you can get
the new strips.

Call your pharmacy before filling your next script. Tell them you want the new strips. If they can't give you the new strip, find another pharmacy and thransfer the script if necessary.

My point, is that maybe all of us that use this meter should complain to
ABBOTT, to me this is false advertising. I did not know there were 'old'
style strips and filled the prescription for their meter. Now I know, but
I'm stuck with 100 strips that now require me to use my old Bayer vacuum
lancer to get enough blood. (thick skin on my arm....).

I just don't think the purpose of this forum includes initiating protests or boycotts. Go ahead and complain, but don't try to raise an army here.

My insurance no longer covers FreeStyle, maybe because there is a descrepancy with the strips and that they're changing. So I changed to the Bayer Contour. I hope that's not your old vacuum lancer .... yikes.

Bayer sells an options lancer device that is useful if you want to use your arm
and you have 'thick' skin. I supplies suction after it lances to draw blood.
Works great - escpecially when it's cold..... It uses the standard bayer lances...with depth adjustment.
