For the last few days my readings have been in the upper 200's and Im having a hard time figuring out whats going on. I checked my A1C with a home test kit about 2 weeks ago, and it was 6.3, up from 3 months ago of 6.0. But taking my normal insulin dosage that has worked for the foods eaten in the past just doesnt seem to cut it right now.
Example, a Glucerna breakfast bar, 5 units of Humalog would take care of it. Yesterday my fasting was 132, ate the bar and took 6 units. 2 hours later my reading was 275. So now I find myself compensating, and ultimately, over compensating. It may be contributed to my having some sinus and allergy problems, maybe.
My brother, whom is also diabetic, checks his blood once a day. His last A1C was also 6.3. I check my sugars atleast 6 times a day in an attempt to, I guess, micro manage it.
Should I relax more about my readings? Just take it 4 hours after I eat/take shot? And if high then add more humalog?
