So glad it's been a positive experience for you Hillary. All the best for continuing success.
Amazing how much space everytning takes up isn't it? I bought a large clear plastic storage bin and put all my supplies in that helps keep it clean and organized instead of cardboard boxes.Still waiting for my training appt to be set. Got my rigging: Pump, Meter, Transmitter ... and 4 mos' supplies, taking up 1/3 of my closet ... also waiting for vial of humalog and the deathly costly strips! And, yes, the first 3 communicate among themselves!
With that 3 or 4 unit bolus , how many carbs does that cover. I use a I-C ratio but for the most part I can give a pretty good guess on how many units for what I am eating , would be the same for a syringe even though you are guessing 3-4 units you are still basing that on what you are eating.Okay, cut and pasted, cross-post, but: Pumpers who eat LC or VLC, do you use an I:C ratio? Or do you pretty much "know" what bolus amount is going to work for your meal? My CDE who will be training me seemed disappointed or concerned that I do not use a calculated ratio! I explained, well, I almost invariably use a 3U or 4U bolus, so it has become intuitive ... Well then we won't be using the Bolus Wizard, so you won't be taking full advantage of the pump's features ... I GUESS we can still set your basal rate, anyhow ...
lets just say 10 carbs for 3 units as an exampleI would say under 10, subtracting fiber. But honestly, I think our metabolism alters; protein may play a great role through GNG, and fat of course slows things down, as does fiber ... so for me, not sure their rigid "science" will be all that helpful? So, if it is 3U for 10g carb (ONLY), it would be abt 1:3; then at dinner maybe 1:4? It really is a dunno thing!
