My phone just rang as I was browsing the forums here. It was my friend, a 32-year-old man. He had run into me a few months ago and seen my weight loss (secondary to BG control) due to LCHF. He and another friend went LCHF a few weeks ago in preparation for a cruise they were going on.

This guy called me to RAVE about this way of eating, and tell me how much he loves LCHF, and how much weight he's losing without feeling hungry, how delicious the food is.

He asked me to tell y'all that he LOVES THIS and to THANK YOU for him!

So nice to hear. :)

I agree with him....I have been raving about this site since I got started in May of this year!

I am amazed at some of the folks that come on here and fool around with us, then just go away.....very sad they never 'got it'!

They will be back....if they survive long enough...

Vicky,

For the last 15 years my phone has been a Radio Shack $9.99 land line. I figured if it rang...it was for me. Not so much anymore. So...after mulling this over for a few seconds after my last post, I went on eBay and ordered a VTech cordless phone with the answering system.

There is no phone call to me, ever, that requires my immediate attention...therefore...I'll screen everything. $26.28 well spent. Free shipping! :)

For years on our landline, we've used Panasonic phones which have a call-block feature. The trouble with it is there's room for only 50 numbers.

I read in Consumer Reports this week that phone companies are the biggest holdout on call blocking programs, and they are being strongly petitioned to provide this service as an option for paying customers. Their premise has always been to make sure people get all their calls . . . a good idea in the beginning, but as you say, Bounty, not so much anymore. We are basically hermits - we get very few 'real' calls. We have five kids, but they're more likely to text or email.

Money well spent Bounty!!! If I see a number I don't recognize, the answering machine can listen to whatever nonsense I've won, places that want me to donate money, surveys I should take...the list goes on :)

I thought I'd get a jump start on this...so the "techie" in me went to VTech's website and downloaded the VTech CS6124 DECT 6.0 Users Manuel. Are you $#!)ing me?! 50 pages?!

Where's the "unship" button?! :(

Are they all in English?
Oddly, instead of being in that undecipherable mash of English and Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi or Assamese...they are in English. No disrespect meant to those in India who work for the glut of American support...but DAYUM! Especially Comcast. It's like trying to talk with Yoda!

Rajeev: Good day to you. How am I helping you today?

Me: You charged me too much for a movie I rented.

Rajeev: I understand that Comcast charged you too much for a movie you rented, is that what is correct?

Me: What? Is there an echo in here?

Rajeev: I understand the name of the movie was "Is There An Echo In Here"?

Me: No, the movie was American Sniper!

Rajeev: I understand the movie was American Sniper. Is that correct?

Me: Yes, that's correct. Why do I have to keep verifying what I say?

Rajeev: We just want to be having the right information. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Me: What about my first problem; you overcharging me for the movie American Sniper?

Rajeev: I understand that you have been overcharged for the movie American Sniper. Is that correct?

Me: No, Rajeev, my question is...how many grams of curry should I sprinkle on one kilogram of chicken thighs to get that "just right" Indian flavor?

Rajeev: I understand that...

Me: [Click] Dial tone...

On the phone call thing! I know, I know, it is off topic! But ...

All of our land line phones have caller ID as does our TV. We have an answering machine on our phone also. Unless we know the number, we never answer. Computer calls are very common now, and they never leave a message, and stop calling after maybe calls with no answer.

Technology is great if you know how to use it. This is all old technology, but still works very well to avoid unwanted phone calls (not answering them anyway)!
