If you have ever wondered how baked goods would turn out if you substitute ground sunflower seeds for almond flour... I tried it with this hamburger bun recipe. I did not burn them, but the buns came out so dark green inside and out that they almost look black, but they taste just as good as the ones made with almond flour.

I've seen a lot of recipes on gluten free sites where they use ground sunflower seeds but I think they mix they with almond or coconut flour. I do think the higher fat content may cause them to darken quickly. Maybe lower the oven temp a little.
