Many times when we are first dx'd our bgs have been very high for a very long time, our bodies get used to the high numbers. As we change our food choices and get better numbers our body kind of revolts. People on the Atkins diet actually have a word for it . They call it the Atkins Flu. In those early weeks I would always carry some low carb snack with me and take a few bites when I felt that way. Also being on a diabetic diet doesn't mean going hungry. Make sure you eat every 3-4 hours to keep your metabolism buzzing along. I make up my own Trail mix and carry it with me everywhere. Also bars like Atkins, Quest or even the Kind Nut bars work well for me.
