Air Conditioning! :D ...at least at work :p

In my apartment I have the windows open, a fan running and cold water in the fridge. Walk in the early morning or late evening when the sun is weakest. Take a cooler shower than normal, sleep under a sheet, wear shorts!

We air-condition only two rooms of our house - kitchen & living room - and right now during this heat wave, I've been sleeping in the living room where the a/c is! For the rest of the house we have to wait until evening brings cooler outdoor temperatures & then we turn on our enormous attic fan to exhaust the heat & draw in air from outside.

My reply was going to be, "very poorly!" Between my thyroid fun and now the icing on my heat-tolerance cake, hot flashes, I have had poor heat tolerance for some time, but this summer is THE WORST.

My home is A/C, my work is A/C, but I wait outside for buses and often end up absolutely DRENCHED. My husband has been picking me up in the afternoon on the hotter days. Not very green, but it seriously feels like a threat to my health!

I don't handle it well at all. I can't afford to run my central A/C all day, but I put a window unit in the bedroom that I run at night. I can't wait for fall, I prefer to have windows open. :D

It has been a hot summer. I stay outside with the kids playing in the sprinklers in a shaded part of the yard a lot and I make sure to keep the refrigerator stocked with plenty of water. We try to do our errands after the sun goes down. On the plus side, i'm saving money by drying our clothes on the line. In this heat, doesn't take long at all, though the scratchy towels take some getting use to.

I admit i'm looking forward to fall.

You all remind me of a job I had years ago working in a greenhouse. The plants had to be watered every day of course, and one day my coworker & I were patiently tending all the little flora, and totally sweltering in the greenhouse environment, when it occurred to me to turn the hose on myself. She didn't believe I'd do it, and I guess her unbelief egged me on, plus my hairdo is a non-hairdo - cut short & straight - so I did it. And from then on when the heat/humidity became unbearable there, I'd go soak my head! (which is something my mom used to tell me to do - figuratively - when I was a smart-aleck teenager . . .)

That's IT! I shoulda been a plant! Loving the warmth & humidity!

I envy all of you, living in warm climate. Over here in UK, it is either raining or snowing in winter. Right now, we seem to have an Indian summer, with temperatures about 25 degree celsius. Quite comfortable.
