Hello Rebecca, welcome aboard! What kinds of insulin are you using? Are you using carb counting and determining your insulin dosages according to the number of carbs you are eating? That is a very good way to have good control of your blood sugar levels. I have been Type 1 for 63 years and i am very healthy. If we have good control we can live long, healthy lives. Ask all the questions you want, we are here to help!

I have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. My doctor who happens to be the head of the Diabetes Center in my city gave me a prescription to help avoid having a problem with a positive side effect of some slight weight loss. Anyone ever tried it? The drug is called
Metformin.
KVM, welcome to our site. Metformin is used my many millions of diabetics all over the world. It's primary use is to help with insulin resistance. If you have that problem to some degree then it should help you. Good luck with it!

Hmm, it does have different effects on different people. Before using the pump, I was on insulin injections, and Meformin 500mg tablets. I took 2 in the morning, and 2 at night for a total of 2000mg per day, with no problems. Now I'm off of everything except the pump, and a different insulin.
