I am 20. I have been diabetic for three years.I have type two diabetes. I'm having trouble with my weight which affects my BG levels right now they are 200-300. I started Lantus. I'm on Januvia and glyburide. I'm having trouble with my medication because I've been trying to deal with depression or what feels like it. There's also school and stress so I figure this is a good way to talk stuff out and maybe start to manage it instead of letting my diabetes manage me. Since my school is about to go on break. And I am stress because I don't have a job and my mom keeps pushing me to get one I applied everywhere I have heard of.

Hi Nelly, glad you decided to check in with us. I think there's an abundance of T2's here, who are on Lantus and would be happy to share experiences with you! I'm T2 myself, Dx'd in 2004, but not yet taking insulin - just metformin. :smile2:

For some reason, statistically, depression and diabetes seems to go hand in hand. I would talk this over with your DR. As you may know there are varying degrees of it and the Dr can help you keep an eye on it.

Getting your Blood Glucose under control is going to make you feel a lot better :)

as to weight, a lot find reducing carbs a good thing. what to expect the first week

Welcome Nelly, sorry you're having a rough go of things right now. Stress definitely adds to the challenge of managing diabetes.

In addition to meds, what else are you doing to help with your diabetes? The thing that's often toughest to face is diet - I know! - but it's critical to having good control. Your numbers are pretty high for also taking meds, so I'm wondering if you're counting carbs? And how much you test your blood sugar during the day? You can learn a lot by testing a lot.

I had super high bg when I was diagnosed, but just cutting carbs had a dramatic impact. You'll get a lot more benefit from that than from losing weight - and quicker too!

Like your attitude of wanting to manage your diabetes vs letting it be in control.

Hi nelly6, welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you are having problems, but I'd bet you can get a lot of good tips based on experience of others here on the forum.

The insulin sounds like a good thing. You should talk to your doctor about getting off the other two diabetes meds. They force your body to try to produce more natural insulin. If that part of you is not working so well, then they are doing little to no good for your BG levels.

Yes, do tell more about yourself.

My problem is I have a really good week then I emotionally break down so my numbers are like a roller coaster good skyrocket and then ok I'm trying to walk and exercise but same thing happens I start loosing wait then I get into something and start gaining I wanted to see a psychologist or therapist but I didn't want to admit how bad it was I mean it's hard telling someone how bad it really gets anyway to get the help I would need to come clean and tell them the dark thoughts in my brain

Plus I feel ashamed to say I have thought of killing myself I feel lonely I don't have energy or the will to get things done its been my goal but I could never open up to my doctor

The great thing about a therapist is, that's what they do for a living. They aren't judging you, only there to help.

I think your instincts in wanting to see one are good. It would be a safe place where you can talk about things you can't talk to your friends or parents about. Dark thoughts need light.

Please call a professional.

You are not alone in this...and telling a therapist will help. You want control and you can get it. Don't let this destroy the beauty you have inside...you really can beat this and make it go away and leave you freedom.

I forgot to say that getting hold of your eating is the fastest way to get out of the cycle and become far less depressed about yourself. Or, for me it was. I saw that I could control one little thing of my life and that led to another.

Hi Nelly, Patdart gives really important advice here sweetheart. It seems a big task at first to change your lifestyle but trust me just take the first step. Once you see things improving even just a little bit, and it really does improve in a short period of time following LCHF you will fly from there. Keep strong Nelly, you can do this. I love what a fighter you are. X X please keep us updated.
