New to the forum, wanted to say hello, been on Humalog and Lantus for a decade and my A1Cs have been creeping up lately, I requested my doc put me on the pump this past Tuesday and have been gathering info on what's next since. Any input?
I would only say to be patient. Pumping is not all that easy and requires a lot of work on your part. Pumping is however the best way to control your glucose levels throughout the day. The problems I had with lantus was that it could not effectively cover my changing basal rates over the coarse of the day and I think that is where every one has trouble. So be patient and be prepared to do a lot of basal testing.
I completely agree. There is a *lot* of testing..especially in the beginning. But once I got my basal rates figured out and the correct ratios done, it has been an awesome thing. I am in the best control in years. Not to mention that the pump offers so much more flexibilty. I wish I had done it years ago.
