welcome Sleepy :) I'm figuring you're saying you're not on insulin at the moment and your BGLs are normal? I'm not sure how that works for a type 1? Can you share with us what your diet, etc. is like.

So you used insulin for your first 8 or 9 months. Did you really need it? If not, you must have had a lot of very low blood sugar. Now your pancreas is producing insulin so you have stopped insulin. Do you follow a low carb diet so you will be more likely to continue without insulin? I have not heard of a honeymoon period lasting four years, but maybe it is possible.

My pancreas stopped completely in 1945, when I was 6. I have now been type 1 for 65 years, and am very healthy.

Good luck to you in the months ahead. I am anxious to see how much longer you can go without insulin.

You're saying you were misdiagnosed? Diabetes doesn't just go away - you are either Type 1 or not, and sounds like you never were if you're completely normal now. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible.

It sounds like a mis dx even during my honeymoon i always needed insulin. Even without eating a type 1 can easily hit coma levels without insulin. id say don't take insulin if you don't need it. it can give you high bp. but if you have a meter keep using it so if your bs does go out of wack you can catch it early
