Hi my name is Lindsay and on Saturday I had a bit of a scare.

I had eaten two pieces of meatloaf with ketchup, 2 potatoes with butter and salt and some soy milk before heading to the movies.

Near the end of the movie I was feeling dizzy and sick with a bit of a headache, when I walked into the bathroom I looked pretty pale. We went back to my dads house, as soon as I said I felt dizzy my stepmom forced me to take a blood sugar test. (She has diabetes so she has one of those testing kits and a blood pressure machine.)

And my dad forced me to take my blood pressure

blood presure was high with a high pulse, but my sugar level was down to 4.3, three hours after eating.

I was feeling shakey and sick. They forced me to eat a chocolate bar to keep things from going down further.

Everytime I had a fasting blood sugar test, it's always come out around 5. But I've always had my suspicions since I was young.

Everytime I feel sick, I don't feel like eating even I have to force myself at times just to do so even if its a little bit. I've always suspected my blood sugar level was dropping at that point. So I'm here to learn more about this.

Hello Lindsay, welcome to our community. i think you should see a doctor , preferrably an endocrinologist (diabetes specialist). Your problem does not sound like diabetes. It sounds more like hypoglycemia. Some who has hypoglycemia experiences low blood sugar after eating fast acting carbohydrates like those in potatoes, ketsup and milk. Candy also has fast acting carbs. What happened after you ate the chocolate bar? If you cut down on your fast acting carbs and have meat or fatty food with your meals then that will slow down the absorption of the carbs so you would be less likely to have one of these episodes. That is assuming that you actually have hypoglycemia. You may have something else instead. You should see a doctor soon!

I was feeling better after I ate the chocolate bar and this has been going on since I was really young. My dad's hypoglycemia, he always has to eat every couple of hours or he gets sick. I kind off just figured I got it from him.
