Hi everyone,

My name is Taja, I am 25 and I've been suffering from diabetes since I was 20, for 5 years now. I am not insulin-dependent, I truly hope that will not happen soon, I'm just on daily medication but I must say diabetes hasn't changed my life so much in a bad way as I'm doing about the same things I used to do before, except sugar-sweets :( Other than that, I am an independent artist with lots and lots of other hobbies. I am from Portsmouth, UK and I look forward to meeting you.

See you

Its carbs not just sugar that raise BG

Potatoes raise BG faster and higher than sugar
rice is another bad one, pasta, bread

any starch is is carbohydrate and your body is very good at converting carbs into BG.

I went the rout of no sugar and eating healthy for 15 years only to find out that "Healthy" eating, high in fruits and grains is not good for a diabetic. fruits and grains raise BG. I now have neropathy in my feet and legs.

there are many contributers to BG exercise and drugs are the big controllers

How are your BG numbers?

Hello, Taja . . . why don't you tell us more about how you manage your diabetes? You've made many posts today, but I haven't really learned much about you. Which meds are you on? Do you test regularly? What are your usual BG numbers? Do you follow a special diet?
