How/why did you choose your user name?

Some of us have been very creative in making our user names . . . others of us are more mundane/prosaic/boringly ordinary, like me who chose my real name.

Wanna tell us why you chose the handle you have, and what it means? Please, please, please? :D :D :D

(good grief! :( A spelling error in the title where I can't change it! Help Bob!)

Love to! It's part of a silly childhood name. When I was a toddler apparently my family called me Winkin Wankin Woogie - the reason is buried in ancient history and no one can remember. My Dad is the only one that continued to call me part of that name,Woogie, for the rest of his life - he never called me by my real name.
My dad was an amazing man and my personal hero. He's been gone for almost 17 years now - I'm crying as I write this. I'll never quit missing him and every decision I make I think "what would make Dad proud of me?".
When we lost him one of the things that hit me was that no one would ever call me Woogie again. I couldn't bring myself to use that name but chose the other part as my nickname for the computer. Some sites I'm Winkin1.

Well as a moderator in another forum using V bulletin you should be able to click on Thread Tools upper right hand corner and then Edit Thread. There you can change the Title. It will only change the OP and the new ones coming in.
oh mine is just the initials of the company name I work for. Some think of it as some drug that I may or may not be on or willing to sell

Doc Whitley

Well Whitley is my last name and DOC stands for department of Correction where I spent 10 years

Just JOKING :)

Doc is a term that Navy Corpsman stationed with the Marines Earn. I earned it when I saved the Life of a Marine who was in an accident. Once you have been called Doc.... You are always a DOC
My name is the title of a song on my favorite CD by Donny Osmond. I know it's corny....but I have been following Donny Osmond around for 35 years. :)

I know how you feel.
Mine is the same name I use for my online art gallery & pretty much anything else

Punk because I like the punk style, I like weird hair colours, & the clothes.
Hippie because I'm rather eco-conscious, interested in all the awesome stuff (music, underground comics, etc) from the hippie era, & I love the clothes (long flowing skirts, flares, etc)
It's an odd combination, which is perfect for me :D
I'm one of those "boring" people. I got tired of trying to come up with a new name to suit each of the forums I was at. One was for blackberries, one for WSU Shockers and so on. I started forgetting what my name was and I knew I wouldn't forget my real name. ;)
Cool Thread!

"ThoseBackPages"

well, ive been an internet user for 15+ years now (scary to think about that) and have had pretty much four "Handles" in that timeframe.

TBP has been around for over 7 years now (another frightening thought)

ThoseBackPages came about during a heavy Robert Zimmerman phase that i had going on in a particularly bad time in my life. "My Back Pages" was taken (AOL user back then), so i came up with my own version "ThoseBackPages"

i use it pretty much everywhere

Ah me, Eric . . . now I'm gonna be hummin' that song for the next six days . . . that's about what it usually takes when one gets stuck in my brain . . . :faint2: ;)

i was so much older then...i'm younger than that now ;)
Mine is the result of a humorous (read "sarcastic") nickname I got at a previous place of employment a number of years ago. It arose out of the notion that my boss thought I could accomplish miracles - obviously not a correct perception! My peers took to calling me "goldengirl" because it seemed that I could do not wrong. It has stuck because it was so ridiculous . . .
Lastname, first initial ...

I only remember the Byrds' version, of Those Back Pages :cool2:
