I am out of town and my computer time/access is limited. My father has had open heart surgery, and I am helping my mom visit and take care of houshold things.

I learned the hard way to take care of myself. Had been driving back and forth, quite a long drive. Did not eat right before leaving one day and got stuck on the highway behind a wreck that made the trip an hour and half longer. Got to feeling really bad before I could get to an off ramp. Have decided to stay down here and make sure I eat right because otherwise I am really not going to be any use to anyone.

Hello wish, thanks for checking in with us. I am sorry to hear about your father. I have been in traffic jams before, and my BS dropped. I always have glucose tablets close at hand and they have brought me out of several bad situations. good luck to you and your father in the weeks ahead!

thanks! We are back now, and Dad is doing pretty well. :)

I had a new A1C done just after I returned. The dr's office called to say that my "diabetic control was good" but did not give me the numbers, so I will be calling them back. I'd been trying to avoid cholesterol meds but no dice there. After Dad's experience, I will be a good girl and take the medicine.

Hope you all have been doing well.

The combination of low-dose statin & low-carb diet has kept my lipids nicely corralled this past year. I rather hoped my doc would discontinue the statin when my tests came in this year, but he didn't, and it's only 20mg lovastatin, so I be a good girl too. ;) I've had no ill effects.
