so i have this digital bathroom scale that i have had for a few years. in the last few months since i have been working on my diet and my weight i have been taking my weight every morning at the same time just to keep an eye on my weight trends. every so often my weight seem to jump between on day to the next so i will step back on the scale and see the number is now 3 or 4 pounds lighter. i step back on the scale and see yet another number. after 4 different times on the scale i seem to find an average weight that i think might really be my weight.
well last night i did this ritual before bed and settled on a weight. this morning after a full nights sleep my scale told me i gained 2 pounds over night :frusty::frusty:. i am certian that i do not sleep eat. so i told my wife that is it, we are getting a new scale.

I so hear you! After my diagnosis at the end of March, I started Low Carbing and I would step on the scale every morning only to find that I hadn't lost any weight. However, on the days when I also had to see my Doc and he checked my weight, I had lost a few pounds. I would then go home knowing that the Doc's scale said 88 only to find my scale saying 93. I did what you are doing now. I tossed out the old analogue scale and bought a new digital scale. Now, all is right in the world.

My digital scale will vary 1-3 pounds throughout the day. Have you changed the batteries lately?

My scale protects me from this frustration, and from being tossed off the deck. When I weight again w/in a few minutes, it shows the same weight. If I switch to another user, it might show a slightly different one cuz it thinks it's safe from my wrath. This is a hidden 'feature.'

Digital scales can be tricky :)

When I encountered this, I shopped the internet for the old-fashioned sliding weight scales which are extremely accurate. They were all too expensive for me. With the digital scales (and I think some are better than others) an important thing to consider is that you need to stand very still and CENTERED over the thing. If you lean in any direction - I think especially forward or backward - the reading will change.

A new battery is probably worth trying, too.

My antique balance scale is the soul of accuracy - it's the scale my late father-in-law used in his medical practice & it's easily recalibrated if it begins to slip a little. As much as I appreciate its honesty, I don't always like what it has to say! Like tomorrow morning when I step on after many days of enjoying large amounts of good food. Something tells me my meter is more forgiving than that durn scale! :twitch:

I have a digital scale that seems pretty accurate. If I way myself two or three times in a row it's never more than 0.1lbs different.

However, we all fluctuate in weight from day to day, even DURING the day, so there will always be day-to-day differences...

Personally, I'd like to try one of these things: Omron body fat scale
