What a relief to know, and to have such a stellar medical team! He is a special boy, and a chip off the old block! Hugs to Roman from GrannyShanny.

Thanks so much for the update. Glad to hear he had a clear diagnosis. I'm sure it would have been torture if you had to wonder if you were imaginging things. Keep us posted, ok?
I was always holding on to hope that my meter was bad or something. Was worried about how hard it would be to keep him healthy. With his attitude, I see that it won't be a problem. He already want's to do everything daddy does. He was also excited to take his meter to school. He seems like he is actually proud of it which I don't mind. At least he doesn't see it as a burden yet and I am hoping that helps him stick to it.

I will definitely keep you all posted. I am sure I will be needing advice at some point.

Wow -- any thoughts about antibody testing, for YOU?

He is obviously in wonderful hands -- good luck, to you BOTH! And hugs!!!
I need to get in and get checked again but I am trying to stay away from doctors for a little bit. Had my fill for a while. I am feeling pretty good right now so going to ride through summer and enjoy myself. Get back to see my endo in a few months.

So my son had another appointment with his Endo yesterday and now things are spun off into another direction. The Endo was surprised that his BG has not moved at all. His fasting is a solid 120 to 130 with occasional excursions to 140's. His fasting is also not affected by what he eats at all. His PP is quite sensitive though. Also, he shows no antibodies.

The Dr. grilled me on my D and I had explained the mess I went through and how I was unresponsive to any of the oral meds and how my Endo had believed I was late onset T1 but I have not shown antibodies. Also the fact that over the past 2 years, almost, my numbers have not changed when tested absent of insulin. This has led the Dr. to believe that my son is not a Type 1. He also believes that I need to have a talk with my Endo as he believes that my son and I are MODY.

I don't know much about MODY other than I had ruled that out for myself before due to the fact that neither of my parents were diabetic but after researching last night, it seems like it could fit but I don't know. I can say that my insulin usage has dropped significantly lately. My house is in order and things have been great since having the thyroid removed and getting rid of the cancer and hyperthyroid issues. I have even contemplated giving it another go at med free again. Also, my son and my BG are almost identical. It is really strange. He does run a bit higher than me but our PP is identical. We respond very similar to the same foods. His spikes peak at around the same place mine do. Our recovery are about the same as well.

I don't know, I am just flustered now. I will probably never be able to verify as the testing is expensive and not covered by most insurance. I also don't even know that it really matters. I guess it would tell me if we are going to slide off a cliff at some point or not but it doesn't change much otherwise. We will continue to work on our diets and lead healthy lives but what else is there really to do.

Please let me know your thoughts. I am afraid I may have let my guard down and may be letting the Dr. lead me into another case of chasing my tail.

I will worry but I have to be strong for him. I have to make sure I don't pass my fear on to him.

He is going to the doctor tomorrow. I will not go through the same process as before. I know what tests need to be done and will not waste time with anything less. At least I am prepared and know how to control it thanks to fine folks at DiabetesForum.com.

It is time for sweeping changes in the family. We are all diabetic from this point on as far as I am concerned. Time to hit the recipe section again.
How about this resource?
