Welcome to the forums! Tell us a bit about your diabetes and how you manage it.
It's always good to meet another healthy diabetic, masthansaheb sheik. Come right in & tell us how you stay healthy, and don't be surprised if you learn a few things from us too! :D :D :D

Welcome to the forum

i hope that you visit us regularly. This is by far, THE best place for us diabetics to talk freely and openly about whats going on with us.

Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have, as i feel that there are no "dumb" questions

You can do this, you can.

My mom is into water too for a while, says she feels lighter but I was curious about your daily diet...
Indian food and carbohydrates

Here in Philadelphia, where I live, we have a very large Indian community. Because of the many Indians living here, there are many Indian restaurants, groceries, shops, Chaat houses, etc.

Unfortunately the delicious foods of India tend to be very high in carbs ... all those wonderful breads like Naan and kulcha and roti ... not to mention the rice biryanis and those lovely samosas - these things I cannot have anymore as a diabetic.

I hope you realize that carbs are not good for us diabetics.

Namaste. :)

Yeah, me too. I like to toss back a snake or two in between meals...see how far down my digestive track it can make it before it stops wigglin'.

Is it really necessary to drink so much water, I find it difficult to drink 2liter a day or does it depend on the area you live in.
I try not to eat snakes anymore, instead I would have 6 meals threw out the day. I try and keep them all the same “volume”. But if a graving hits me I would snack on peanuts.
I find fruits tends to spike me a lot
Have you guys any ideas on how to improve on this :israel:

I would think hydration is simple in one form; drink when you're thirsty. I would also think that one's hydration needs are diametrically opposed to how much water their body eliminates. Simple water loss involves breath; sweat; and urination. After that...the need for replacement goes up depending on your system's usage.

I suppose there's a standard for daily hydration...but I've never searched it out, other than the old standby, drink 8 glasses of water a day. I've never been a fan of just drinking water all day just because I'm supposed to. I drink when I'm thirsty...no more, no less.

Water, being the universal solvent, I think is very important in out-of-normal situations where the body needs to flush itself. 2 liters a day doesn't sound like overkill to me. You could always cut down on your volume and see how it affects you.

I was reading somewhere that you are suppose to drink half your body weight in oz. So I weigh 230lb, I should drink 115oz of water a day. Thats almost a gallon, I probably could do that if I wanted to spend all of my time in the little room.
