I just stumbled on a link to the forum. I am 55, male, and have been type2 for 21 years. I started out for several years on oral meds but eventually had to start taking insulin. I currently take 220 units of Lantus daily and average about 180 units of Humulin R per day taken at mealtimes. I would be a candidate for gastric bypass but my group insurance will not pay for weight loss surgery regardless of the need.
